A Watery Highway in Turkey!

The Bosporus is like a super-duper important river, but it's actually a strait! It's in a country called Turkey. This watery path is so special because it connects two big seas: the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. It's also like a natural border, saying 'This side is Asia, and this side is Europe!' The city of Istanbul is built right on its sides, making it a very busy place.

Splitting Continents and Cities!

This amazing strait is super narrow, making it the thinnest waterway in the whole world that ships can sail on! It's so narrow that you can almost see the other side easily. The Bosporus splits the land of Turkey into two parts, separating Asia from Europe. The city of Istanbul is split right down the middle by it, with millions of people living on both sides!

Busy Boats and Big Bridges!

Lots and lots of boats travel through the Bosporus every single day. It's like a superhighway for ships carrying all sorts of things. Because it's so important, people have built big bridges over it so cars and trains can cross from one side to the other. These bridges are super tall, like a giant's playground slide!

A Home for Millions!

The land all around the Bosporus is packed with homes and buildings. The city of Istanbul has about 17 million people living there, which is more people than you can count on all your fingers and toes many, many times over! Many of these people live right next to the strait, watching the ships go by and enjoying the water.
