The Mighty Normans!

Imagine a group of super-adventurous people who loved to explore! That was the Normans. They were like Viking explorers who settled in a place called Normandy in France. They were known for being brave fighters and smart builders. They wore cool armor and rode strong horses. They even sailed across the sea to conquer new lands!

The Normans started out as Vikings, who were famous sailors from Scandinavia. They traveled far and wide in their long boats. Eventually, some Vikings settled in a part of France that became known as Normandy. They learned to speak French and became skilled knights. They were like a mix of their old Viking ways and new French culture, creating something totally unique!

The Normans were amazing builders! They built strong castles with thick stone walls that still stand today. These castles were like giant fortresses to protect them. They also built beautiful churches and cathedrals. They were so good at conquering that they took over England in 1066, which changed England forever. They were like super-builders and super-rulers all in one!

The Normans left a big mark on the world. When they took over England, they brought their language, which mixed with the English language and changed it a lot. Many words we use today come from the Normans! They also brought new ways of building and ruling. So, even though they lived a long time ago, we can still see their influence all around us.
