Where is Normandy?

Normandy is a super cool place in the top-left corner of France, a country in Europe! It's like a big, beautiful puzzle piece. Part of Normandy is on the mainland, but some of it is on islands called the Channel Islands, which are close to England.

It's a place with lots of green fields, farms, and a long coastline where you can see the big ocean. The weather is usually mild, not too hot and not too cold, perfect for growing yummy apples and raising cows!

Who Were the Normans?

A super long time ago, brave sailors called Vikings, also known as 'Northmen', sailed all the way from cold northern lands to Normandy. They were strong and adventurous! They settled down and became known as Normans.

They were so important that they even sailed across the sea and became kings of England a very long time ago. This made Normandy and England connected for many years, like best friends who share a secret!

What Do People Do There?

Normandy is famous for its delicious food! They make amazing cheese, like Camembert, and yummy apple cider to drink. Many people work on farms, growing food and taking care of animals.

Others work in pretty towns and cities like Rouen and Caen, which have old buildings and busy streets. It's a place where people enjoy a good meal and love their beautiful countryside. They also have their own special language, Norman, which is like a cousin to French.

Normandy's Amazing Islands!

Did you know that some of Normandy's land is actually on islands? These are called the Channel Islands, and they are super special because they are not part of France or England, but are like their own little kingdoms! They are called Jersey and Guernsey.

These islands are much smaller than the mainland, about the size of a few big parks put together, but they have their own unique charm and history, making Normandy an even more exciting place to learn about!
