The Crusades: Knights, Castles, and Big Journeys!

The Crusades were like a series of big, important journeys that happened a long, long time ago, mostly between the years 1095 and 1291. People from Europe, who were mostly Christians, decided to travel to a place called the Holy Land, which is where Jesus lived. They wanted to take control of important holy sites there.

It was a bit like a giant, serious quest with lots of people involved. These journeys involved brave knights, soldiers, and even regular people, all traveling together for a common goal.

Lots of different people went on the Crusades! There were brave knights who wore heavy armor and rode horses, ready for adventure. There were also soldiers who knew how to fight.

They were often encouraged by leaders like kings and the Pope, who was like the head of the Christian church.
