Where Did They Go?

Long, long ago, brave English sailors set sail on huge ships to find new lands! They traveled across vast oceans to places far from their homes. Some of these places were across the sea from Europe, like across the Atlantic Ocean. Others were in faraway Asia. They even went to the tip of Africa! It was like going on a super long adventure to discover new parts of the world.

Building New Homes

When the English explorers found new lands, they decided to build homes and towns there. The very first places they settled were in Ireland. Later, they sailed to North America and started towns like Jamestown. They also found islands with yummy fruits and built places in Asia where they could trade for spices. It was like starting a brand new neighborhood in a different country!

Amazing Discoveries!

The English found all sorts of new things! In North America, they discovered places that are now called Virginia and Newfoundland. They also found lands that became places like New York and New Jersey. In Asia, they found trading posts to get spices and built big forts. They even got new lands in Africa, like Tangier, and a place called Bombay in India!

Who Lived There?

When the English arrived, there were already people living in these lands. The English explorers and settlers brought their own ways of life, their language, and their customs. They built new towns and forts. Sometimes they traded with the people already there, and sometimes things were more complicated. It was a big mix of different people and cultures coming together in new places.
