Where is This Cool Place?

Delaware is a small but mighty state on the East Coast of America. It's like a little gem tucked between bigger neighbors. To its north is Pennsylvania, to its east is the big, blue Atlantic Ocean, and to its south and west is Maryland. It's also part of a big peninsula called Delmarva. Even though it's the second-smallest state, it's packed with history and interesting things!

Who Lived Here First?

Long before anyone built houses or schools, Native American tribes called Delaware home. The Lenape people lived in the north, and the Nanticoke people lived in the south. They knew this land very well! Later, brave explorers and traders from other countries came to see what this land was like. They were the first Europeans to explore the coast.

The Super Speedy First State!

Delaware has a super important title: 'The First State'! Why? Because on December 7, 1787, it was the very first of the 13 colonies to agree to the United States Constitution. This made it the first state in the whole country! It's like being the first one picked for a team, but for a whole nation!

Tiny But Mighty!

Delaware might be small, but it's super important! It has only three counties, which is fewer than any other state. Its capital city is Dover, and its biggest city is Wilmington. Even though it's small, many big companies decide to make their home there because of its special rules. It's a place where history and business meet!
