Where is Scotland?

Scotland is a country way up north in Europe, on an island called Great Britain. It’s like the top part of a puzzle piece! To its south, it has a long border with England, like a fence between two backyards. All around the rest of Scotland are big, blue oceans and seas, perfect for spotting playful dolphins or even whales!

Land of Hills and Islands!

Scotland has super tall mountains called the Highlands, where the highest peak is as tall as a very tall skyscraper! It also has lots of sparkly lakes, called lochs. Some are fresh water, and some are salty sea water that reaches inland. Scotland also has over 790 islands, like tiny jewels scattered in the sea, each with its own special look, some rocky and some flat and green.

A Long, Long Time Ago...

Scotland has been a country for a super long time, since the 800s! That’s over a thousand years ago! For a while, Scotland and England were like two separate kingdoms that decided to join together to make one bigger kingdom called Great Britain. It’s like two friends deciding to share their toys and play together all the time.

What Do Scots Love?

People in Scotland love their traditions! They have their own special languages, like Scottish English and Scots, and some people even speak Gaelic, which sounds like a beautiful song. They also have their own way of doing things, like their own schools and laws. This makes Scotland a very unique and special place with its own special identity!
