Fun Fact
The Americas stretch so far north to south, they reach from the Arctic to the tropics!

Two Big Lands in One!

The Americas are like two super-sized playgrounds, North America and South America, joined together! They stretch so far, from the tippy-top of the world where it's super cold, all the way down to the bottom where it's warm and sunny. Most of this land is in the Western Hemisphere, which is like the left side of a spinning Earth ball.

It's a huge place, bigger than all the continents you can fit into it!

Mountains, Rivers, and Wacky Weather!

Get ready for amazing sights! Down the west side of the Americas runs a giant backbone of mountains called the American Cordillera. They're so tall, they'd make a giraffe look tiny!

On the other side, there are enormous river basins, like the mighty Amazon River, which is so big it's like a flowing highway for water. Because the Americas are so long, the weather changes a lot, from snowy tundras to super-hot rainforests.

Who Lived Here First?

Long, long ago, people traveled from Asia to explore these lands. They were the first humans to call the Americas home! Much later, explorers from Europe, like Leif Erikson and Christopher Columbus, also arrived. Their arrival changed everything, bringing new ideas, plants, and animals, and starting a new chapter for these lands. It was like a giant, worldwide swap meet!

Lots of People and Lots of Languages!

Today, over a billion people live in the Americas! That's more people than you can count on your fingers and toes for a very, very long time. Many different languages are spoken here, like Spanish, English, and Portuguese. People here work in all sorts of jobs, from growing food to building amazing cities with super tall buildings. It's a vibrant place full of different cultures and traditions.
