Where is Djibouti?
Djibouti is a small country in a part of Africa called the Horn of Africa. It's like a little country sitting right next to big oceans, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Think of it like a tiny island nation, but it's actually connected to the land! It has neighbors like Somalia and Ethiopia. This special spot makes it a super busy place for boats traveling all around the world.
A Land of Sunshine and Wind!
Djibouti is a very sunny and warm place, almost like a desert! It doesn't get much rain, so the land can be dry and rocky. Sometimes, strong winds blow across the land. Even though it's dry, people live there and have made it their home. It's amazing how people can thrive in places that might seem a little tough!
Djibouti's Amazing Story
A long, long time ago, this land was part of a place called the 'Land of Punt'. Later, it became a French colony, like a special place ruled by France. They even built a train track to help ships! In 1977, the people of Djibouti decided they wanted to be their own country, and that's how the Republic of Djibouti was born. It's now a member of the United Nations, a big club of countries.
People and Their Languages
Djibouti is home to about 1 million people, which is less than the number of students in many big cities! The main groups of people are called Somalis and Afars. They speak languages that are related to each other. Most people in Djibouti practice Islam, a religion that has been important in the area for over a thousand years. It's a place where different cultures come together.
