Meet the Followers of Islam!

Islam is a religion followed by over 2 billion people around the world! That's more people than live in all of North America and South America combined! These followers are called Muslims.

They believe in one God, who they call Allah. Allah is the Arabic word for God, and it's the same God that Christians and Jews believe in. Muslims try to live their lives by following the teachings of a very important person named Prophet Muhammad.

Where Did Islam Begin?

Islam started a long, long time ago, about 1,400 years ago, in a place called Mecca. Mecca is in a country called Saudi Arabia, which is in the Middle East. A man named Muhammad was born there.

Muslims believe that God spoke to Muhammad and told him what to teach people. These teachings were written down in a special book called the Quran. The Quran is like a guide for Muslims, telling them how to be good people and how to live their lives.

What Do Muslims Do?

Muslims have special ways they show their faith. One important thing is praying five times a day. Imagine eating five snacks every day – it’s a regular part of their lives!

They also try to be kind, honest, and help others. A big part of Islam is also giving to people who need help, like sharing your toys with someone who doesn't have any. They also celebrate special holidays, like Eid al-Fitr, which is a big party after a month of fasting.

Why Islam Matters to Everyone

Islam is one of the world's biggest religions, so it's important to learn about it! It teaches people about peace, kindness, and caring for others. Just like you learn rules at school to help everyone get along, Islam has teachings to help people live good lives.

Learning about different religions helps us understand the world better and be friends with people from all walks of life. It shows us that even though we might be different, we can all share kindness.
