Key Facts
Where Did Everyone Vote?
The United States is a HUGE country, like a giant playground with lots of different states! In 2020, people all over these states got ready to pick their next leader. It's like when your class votes for a class pet. Everyone gets a say! The election happened on November 3rd, a crisp autumn day, but many people voted even earlier to be safe.
The Race for President!
Two main teams were running for president. One team had Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The other team had Donald Trump and Mike Pence. It was a super close race! More people voted than ever before, like a record-breaking number of kids at a school fair. Joe Biden got the most votes ever for one person!
Surprise! Voting by Mail!
Because of something called COVID-19, which made people a little sick, lots of grown-ups decided to vote from their homes! They mailed their votes in, like sending a special letter. This was a new record, with almost everyone voting this way. It made counting the votes take a little longer, like waiting for your turn on the slide.
Who Became President?
After all the votes were counted, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won! They became the new President and Vice President. Kamala Harris made history because she was the first woman, and the first African American and Asian American, to be chosen as Vice President on a big team. It was a really exciting moment for many people!
