Fun Fact
The Louisiana Purchase made the USA twice as big overnight!

From 13 Little Spots to a Giant Map!

Once upon a time, the United States was just 13 small colonies, like stickers on a map. They decided to become their own country! After winning a big war, they got even more land, stretching all the way to a giant river called the Mississippi.

It was like getting a whole new playground to explore! This new land was organized into territories, which were like waiting rooms before becoming full states.

The Super Big Land Deal!

Then, in 1803, the USA made an amazing deal called the Louisiana Purchase. It was like buying a GIANT toy box that doubled the size of the country! This land stretched way, way out west. Later, they also got land that touched the big, blue Pacific Ocean. Imagine being able to walk from one ocean to another! This made the country so much bigger, like adding extra floors to your house.

Adventures Out West!

People were so excited about all this new land! They wanted to explore and build new homes. This journey west was full of adventures. They also started looking at islands far away in the ocean. Some islands were claimed, like finding treasures! The country kept growing, adding places like Alaska, which is super cold, and Hawaii, with beautiful beaches.

Making More States!

As the country grew, new territories became new states. It was like graduating from different grades in school! Some states were made from land that belonged to other states, but most came from these new territories. The last state to join in the main part of the country was Arizona. Then, way out in the ocean, Hawaii became the 50th state! It's amazing how much the map changed!
