Where is Sudan?
Sudan is a HUGE country way up in Northeast Africa. It's like a giant puzzle piece touching lots of other countries! To the north, it has a long border with Egypt, where the famous pyramids are.
To the east, it touches the sparkling Red Sea, perfect for swimming and seeing colorful fish. It also shares borders with Chad, Libya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, the Central African Republic, and South Sudan. It's so big, it's the third-largest country in all of Africa!
A Land of Rivers and Sand
The most important river in Sudan is the Nile River, which is super long and flows through the country. It's like a giant blue ribbon making the land green and good for growing food. Most of Sudan is dry and sandy, like a big desert. The weather can get very hot, especially in the summer. But near the Nile, there are farms where people grow yummy fruits and vegetables.
Ancient Kingdoms and Brave People
Long, long ago, even before the pyramids were built, amazing kingdoms lived in Sudan! One of the oldest was the Kingdom of Kush. People in Sudan have always been strong and brave. They have faced many challenges, but they have also built a rich culture with music, stories, and delicious food. Imagine living in a place with such a long and exciting past!
What Do People Do?
Many people in Sudan work on farms, growing food like cotton and grains. They also raise animals like sheep and cows. Because Sudan is so big, there are lots of people living there, almost as many as in the whole country of Spain! The capital city, Khartoum, is a very busy place where lots of people live and work. It's a place where old traditions meet new ideas.
