Spanish American Wars of Independence

Once upon a time, many countries in North and South America were ruled by Spain, a country far across the ocean. But the people living there started to feel like they wanted to make their own rules. So, they decided to fight for their freedom!

These fights are called the Spanish American Wars of Independence. It was like a big, continent-wide game of 'I want to be in charge of myself!' Many brave people fought in these wars to create new countries.
