Welcome to the Land of a Thousand Hills!

Rwanda is a country in Africa that looks like a giant green blanket covered in rolling hills. It's called the 'Land of a Thousand Hills' because there are so many! It's like a giant playground with mountains in one part and flatter, grassy areas in another.

The weather is usually warm, like a perfect summer day, but it has two rainy times and two dry times each year. The biggest city is called Kigali, and it's right in the middle, high up in the hills.

A Long, Long Time Ago...

People have lived in Rwanda for thousands of years! First, there were people who hunted and gathered food. Then, other groups came and started farming.

Over time, people formed tribes and then even kingdoms, with kings ruling the land. For a while, other countries from far away, like Germany and Belgium, were in charge. But the people of Rwanda wanted to be free, and they became their own country.

Meet the Wonderful People of Rwanda!

Most people in Rwanda are called Banyarwanda. They speak a language called Kinyarwanda, which sounds beautiful! Many people are farmers, growing yummy coffee and tea to share with the world. They also love to welcome visitors, and tourism is becoming super popular. Rwanda is a place with lots of young people, and they are very proud of their culture and traditions.

What Makes Rwanda Special?

Rwanda is a very busy place, with lots of people living close together. It's smaller than some countries, but it's packed with life! They have a government that helps run the country, and they are working hard to make things better for everyone. Rwanda is also part of big groups like the United Nations, where countries work together to solve problems.
