Where is Uganda?
Uganda is a country in East Africa that doesn't touch the ocean, like being in the middle of a big playground! It's surrounded by other countries: Kenya to the east, South Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, Rwanda to the southwest, and Tanzania to the south. A huge, sparkling part of Lake Victoria, the second-biggest freshwater lake in the world, is also in Uganda.
It's like having a giant swimming pool right in your backyard!
Uganda's Amazing Animal Homes!
Uganda is a super special place for animals! It has green forests, tall mountains, and big lakes, which are perfect homes for all sorts of creatures. You might find playful monkeys swinging through trees, colorful birds flying in the sky, and even big hippos splashing in the water.
The country is like a giant nature park where animals can live and play safely. It's called the 'Pearl of Africa' because it's so beautiful and full of life!
Long, Long Ago in Uganda
People have lived in Uganda for a very, very long time. About 3,000 years ago, new groups of people arrived and started powerful kingdoms, like the Empire of Kitara. Later, traders from faraway lands like Arabia and explorers from Britain came to visit.
In 1894, Britain made Uganda a protectorate, which means they looked after it. Then, in 1962, Uganda became its own independent country, free to make its own choices!
Uganda Today: Fun and Friends!
Today, Uganda is a busy country with lots of people! The capital city is called Kampala, and it's a bustling place with millions of people. English is the main language spoken in schools and official places, but many people also speak Luganda.
Ugandans love to share their traditions, music, and delicious food. They are known for being very welcoming and friendly, making visitors feel right at home in their beautiful country.
