Where is Iraq?
Iraq is a country in a part of the world called West Asia. It's like a big puzzle piece surrounded by other countries! To its north is Turkey, to the east is Iran, and to the south are Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
On the west side, you'll find Jordan and Syria. It's a land with two super important rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates, that flow through it like giant blue ribbons. These rivers make the land very green and good for growing yummy food!
A Land of Ancient Wonders!
Long, long ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born, people in Iraq invented some of the most amazing things ever! They invented writing so they could tell stories and share ideas. They figured out how to use the wheel, which is on all your toys and cars today!
They even invented the sailboat to travel on the rivers. This special land is called Mesopotamia, and it's known as the 'cradle of civilization' because so many important firsts happened there.
Big City, Big Dreams!
The biggest and busiest city in Iraq is called Baghdad. It's like a super-duper large playground, with over 8 million people living there! That's more people than you can count on all your fingers and toes, many times over!
Baghdad is the capital, which means it's the most important city where the country's leaders work. It's a place full of history and modern life, with busy streets and lots of interesting things to see and do.
People and Their Languages
Most people in Iraq speak Arabic, which sounds a bit like singing! But if you go to the northern parts, you'll hear people speaking Kurdish. It's like having different languages in different neighborhoods.
The people of Iraq are known for their kindness and for sharing their traditions. They have a rich culture with delicious food and beautiful art, passed down from the ancient times when their ancestors lived there.
