Baghdad: The City of Peace!

Baghdad is a super cool city in the country of Iraq, way over in Western Asia. It sits right on the banks of a big, important river called the Tigris. Baghdad was built a super long time ago, in the year 762! A leader named Caliph al-Mansur wanted to build a brand new, amazing city. He called it Madinat al-Salam, which means 'City of Peace.' It was shaped like a perfect circle, with big walls and gates. Inside, there were beautiful palaces, busy markets, and gardens where people could relax.
