Ancient Greek

Long, long ago, in a sunny place called Greece, lived people called Ancient Greeks. They were like super-smart inventors and storytellers! They built incredible temples that were taller than many houses and told epic tales of gods and goddesses who lived on a magical mountain. These stories are still told today!

The Ancient Greeks lived on a peninsula, which is like a piece of land with water all around it, and on many islands in the sea. They loved to sail their boats from place to place. Their homes were often made of brick and had courtyards where families gathered. They even invented the Olympics, a big sports competition!

Guess what? So many things we use and learn about today started with the Ancient Greeks! They invented democracy, which is how many countries choose their leaders. They were also amazing at math and science, and their ideas about how to build things still inspire us. They even came up with the alphabet we use!

The Ancient Greeks were brilliant! They invented the first machines, like the Archimedes screw, which could lift water. They also thought deeply about how the world worked and came up with ideas for philosophy, which is like asking big questions about life. Their art and sculptures are still admired for their beauty and skill.
