Aristophanes

Aristophanes was like a stand-up comedian from a super long time ago, over 2,400 years ago! He lived in a city called Athens in ancient Greece. He wrote plays that were so funny, people would pack the theaters to watch them. He wrote 40 plays in total, and even though most are lost, 11 are still around for us to read and enjoy today. He was so good, they called him 'The Father of Comedy'!

Aristophanes's plays were like a big joke about what was happening in Athens. He would make fun of important people, like politicians and even famous thinkers.
