Key Facts
Spinning Giants Making Power!
Imagine giant pinwheels, but super-duper big! These are called wind turbines, and they spin when the wind blows. This spinning helps make electricity, which is the power that lights up our homes and runs our toys. Many countries around the world are using these giant spinners to get their power. It's like they're catching the wind's energy and turning it into something useful for everyone!
Where Did These Windmills Come From?
Windmills have been around for a very long time, but the giant ones we see today for making electricity are newer. In recent years, countries like China and India have started building lots and lots of these wind turbines. They are adding more than half of all the new wind power in the world! It's like a race to see who can build the most to catch the wind's energy.
Why Wind Power is Super Cool!
Using wind to make electricity is super cool because it's clean! It doesn't make the air yucky like some other ways of making power. In 2023, wind power helped make about 7.8% of all the electricity used around the whole world. That's a lot of clean energy! Some countries are really good at using wind power, like Denmark, where most of their electricity comes from spinning turbines.
Windy Wonders Around the World!
Did you know that wind power is used in more than half of all the countries? China is a super-duper leader, having over 40% of the world's wind power in 2023! That's like having more than 4 out of every 10 giant windmills. Latvia had the biggest jump in wind power in 2022, growing by a huge 75%. It's amazing how much wind power is growing everywhere!
