Latvia

Latvia is a country way up in Northern Europe, like a cozy blanket on the top of the world! It's one of three special places called the Baltic states. Imagine three friends standing side-by-side: Estonia is the friend to the north, Latvia is in the middle, and Lithuania is the friend to the south.

Latvia also has neighbors like Russia and Belarus, and even a watery border with Sweden, like a secret handshake across the sea!

Latvia is a super green country, with more than half of it covered in fluffy green forests! It's like having a giant playground made of trees. There are also lots of sparkling rivers and lakes, perfect for splashing.

And guess what? Latvia has a long, sandy coastline along the Baltic Sea, where you can build sandcastles taller than a school bus! The weather is nice and mild, with warm summers and snowy winters, so you can enjoy all sorts of fun activities all year round.

Latvia has a really interesting story. It became its own country a long time ago, but then it had to be part of other countries for a while. But the people of Latvia never forgot their home!

They have a special tradition called the Singing Revolution, where they sang together to become independent again. It’s like a giant, peaceful choir that brought their country back! Today, most people in Latvia speak Latvian, a unique language that sounds like music.

The biggest and most exciting city in Latvia is called Riga. It's like the heart of the country! Riga has a super old and beautiful Old Town, with colorful buildings that look like they came out of a fairytale.

You can wander through narrow streets and discover hidden squares. Riga is also a busy place where people work, go to school, and have lots of fun. It's a city full of history and modern life all mixed together!
