Where is Denmark?

Imagine a country shaped like a puzzle piece in Northern Europe! Denmark is made up of a big peninsula called Jutland and over 400 islands. It's like a giant playground surrounded by two big seas, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

It’s south of Norway and Sweden, and north of Germany. Many of the islands are small and empty, but some are big enough for towns and cities, like the capital, Copenhagen!

A Land of Islands and Flat Fields

Denmark is super flat, not like mountains you see in other countries. It’s mostly fields perfect for growing yummy food. The land is so low that the coastlines are sandy and gentle. It’s a bit like a big, flat park with lots of water all around. Because it’s so flat, the wind can blow across the land easily, and the weather is usually mild, not too hot or too cold.

Long, Long Ago in Denmark

A super long time ago, brave sailors called Vikings lived in Denmark! They sailed their long boats across the seas. Denmark became a strong country a very, very long time ago.

It even joined with Norway and Sweden for a while to make a super-kingdom called the Kalmar Union. Later, Denmark became a kingdom all on its own, and the people decided to have a king and queen but also a government to help run things.

Danish Delights and Happy People

Danes love their country and have fun traditions. They invented the idea of 'hygge,' which means being cozy and happy with friends and family. Denmark is famous for its delicious pastries, like the cinnamon swirl called a 'kanelsnegl.' It’s also where many famous fairy tales come from, like those written by Hans Christian Andersen.

People in Denmark are known for being friendly and enjoying a good work-life balance.
