Where Did These Awesome Kings Come From?

These amazing rulers, called the Twenty-fifth Dynasty, came from a place called the Kingdom of Kush. Today, that land is mostly in a country called Sudan, south of Egypt. Even though they came from Kush, they loved Egypt's traditions, its gods, and its way of life so much that they wanted to rule it and make it great again.

They saw Kush as their home, but Egypt was where they built their empire and made their mark.

Super Pharaohs Who Built Big Pyramids!

The Twenty-fifth Dynasty pharaohs were super builders! They were the first to build lots of pyramids in a very, very long time, since the days of the Middle Kingdom. Many of these pyramids are in Sudan today.

They also made Egypt bigger than it had been in ages, bringing together Lower Egypt, Upper Egypt, and their own land of Kush. It was like creating the biggest playground ever, all under one rule!

Kings Who Spoke Egyptian and Loved Egyptian Gods!

These rulers were super Egyptianized! That means they learned and used the Egyptian language and writing. They really loved Egypt's religion, art, and stories. They built new temples and made art that looked just like the old Egyptian styles. It was like they were the biggest fans of Egyptian culture, wanting to keep all its best parts alive and strong for everyone to enjoy.

When the Empire Got Too Big...

For almost 100 years, these pharaohs ruled Egypt, from around 744 to 656 BC. But then, a powerful group from a place called Assyria decided they wanted to take over. They invaded Egypt and defeated the Twenty-fifth Dynasty. This was a big change, and it marked the end of this special time and the beginning of a new era in ancient Egypt.
