South Kivu: A Land of Lakes and Mountains!

South Kivu is a big place in Africa, in a country called the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It's like a giant puzzle piece in the eastern part of the country. To the east, it touches a huge lake called Lake Kivu and also borders other countries like Rwanda and Tanzania.

To the west, it has another big province called Maniema. It's a land filled with beautiful nature, from sparkling lakes to green hills.

South Kivu is home to amazing places like Kahuzi-Biéga National Park. This park is so special it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site! It's a safe place for rare animals, including the famous Grauer's gorillas, which are the largest gorillas in the world. Imagine seeing a gorilla that's taller than your dad! There are also beautiful beaches along Lake Kivu where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Many different groups of people live in South Kivu, and they speak many different languages. Their homes are often built in villages surrounded by farms where they grow food like bananas and beans. The capital city is called Bukavu, and it's a busy place with lots of people and buildings. People here work hard, often on farms or by trading goods.

Did you know South Kivu is almost as big as the country of Ireland? It's a huge area with lots to explore! The people here are known for being very friendly.
