Livestock: Our Farmyard Friends!

Livestock are animals that people have tamed and raised on farms for a long time. Think of fluffy sheep, clucking chickens, and mooing cows! They aren't wild animals; they live with us and help us in many ways. We give them food and shelter, and they give us yummy milk, eggs, wool for cozy sweaters, and even help us with work. They are like our super helpful animal buddies!

Long, long ago, people started to notice that some wild animals could become friends. They learned to care for them, and over many years, these animals became the livestock we know today. For example, cows came from wild oxen, and chickens came from jungle birds. It took a very, very long time for them to become the farm animals we see now, living happily with people.

Livestock are super important because they give us so many things we need! Cows give us milk to drink and cheese to eat. Chickens give us eggs for breakfast and yummy meat. Sheep give us wool to make warm clothes, and pigs give us tasty bacon. They are like a walking, talking food and clothing factory! Without them, our lives would be very different.
