Where is Peru, Anyway?
Peru is a super interesting country way down in South America, a continent shaped like a giant boot! It has tall mountains called the Andes, which are like the world's biggest playground slides, and a long coastline along the Pacific Ocean. The weather can be sunny and warm in some places, and cool and misty in others. It's a land full of amazing sights and sounds!
Who's the Big Boss?
The President of Peru is the most important leader in the country. They are like the principal of a giant school, making sure everything runs smoothly. They have to make big decisions about what's best for everyone in Peru. The President also leads the country's army and police, like a superhero protecting the land!
A Special House for the Leader!
The President works in a very fancy building called the Palacio de Gobierno, which means 'Government Palace'. It's in the oldest part of the capital city, Lima. This palace is super old, even older than your grandparents' grandparents! It's been the home for leaders of Peru for a very, very long time.
Making Important Choices!
Being President means you have a lot of jobs! You have to work with other leaders, called Congress, to make new rules and plans. You also have to make sure everyone follows the country's special rulebook, called the Constitution. It's a big responsibility, like being in charge of a huge team!
