Where the Big Adventure Happened!

This exciting story took place in a huge area called the Northwest Territory. Think of it like a giant playground that included lands that are now states like Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. It was a wild place with big forests, wide rivers, and sparkling Great Lakes. This was home to many Native American tribes for a very, very long time before settlers from the United States started moving in.

When Two Sides Wanted the Same Land!

After a big war between Great Britain and the United States, the land in the Northwest Territory was given to the United States. But the Native American tribes who lived there, like the Huron and others, didn't agree! They formed a team called the United Indian Nations to protect their homes.

The United States Army, with soldiers and volunteers, wanted the settlers to be able to move in and build towns.

Super Tough Battles and Brave Leaders!

The soldiers from the United States had a really hard time at first! They lost some big fights, like St. Clair's defeat, which was one of the worst ever for the U.S. Army. It was like losing almost all your players in a game! But then, a super-smart general named Anthony Wayne took charge. He trained his soldiers very well and led them to a big win at the Battle of Fallen Timbers.

Making Peace and New Rules!

After the big battle, the Native American tribes had to agree to new rules. They signed a treaty, which is like a peace agreement, called the Treaty of Greenville. This treaty meant that the United States gained control over a lot of the Northwest Territory. It was a very important moment that helped shape the United States into the country it is today!
