Native American Thoughts on the Dragonfly

Key Facts
Meet the First Americans!
Long, long ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born, people called Native Americans lived all across North America. They were the very first people to call this land home! They came from Asia, crossing a land bridge that doesn't exist anymore.
Imagine a giant bridge made of ice and land connecting two big places! They explored and settled in all sorts of places, from snowy mountains to sunny deserts.
Living in Harmony with Nature
Native Americans were super smart about living with nature. They knew how to find food, build homes, and make clothes from plants and animals. Some lived in cozy teepees that could be moved easily, while others built strong houses from wood or stone.
They were amazing hunters and farmers, growing corn, beans, and squash. They respected the earth and all its creatures, understanding that everything was connected.
Amazing Stories and Traditions
Native American cultures are full of incredible stories, music, and art. They told stories about how the world was made and about brave heroes. They had special ceremonies and dances to celebrate important events, like harvests or the changing seasons.
Many Native Americans believed in a Great Spirit and had deep spiritual connections to the land. Their traditions were passed down from parents to children for many, many years.
A Big Part of Our Story
Native Americans have a very important place in the history of North America. They were here for thousands of years, creating rich cultures and societies. When explorers from Europe arrived, they met these people.
Today, Native American tribes are still here, working hard to keep their traditions alive and share their unique heritage with the world. Learning about them helps us understand how North America became the place it is today.
