New Democratic Party

The New Democratic Party, or NDP, is like a special team in Canada that works to make things better for people. They are not a sports team, but a group that helps decide how Canada is run. One was called the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, and the other was the Canadian Labour Congress. They decided to team up in 1961 to create the NDP. The NDP team wants to make sure everyone in Canada has good healthcare, like when you go to the doctor. They also want to make sure people have enough money for food and a place to live. They believe in protecting our planet, like keeping the air clean and the water pure. They also think everyone should be treated kindly, no matter who they are.

The NDP team tries to get chosen by people in Canada to help lead the country. They haven't won enough to be the main boss yet, but they are still super important!
