Meet Malawi, the Warm Heart of Africa!
Malawi is a country in Africa that doesn't touch the ocean, which means it's 'landlocked'! It's like a big hug from its neighbors: Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique. It's about as big as the state of Pennsylvania in the USA. Most people in Malawi live in small villages and love farming. The capital city is called Lilongwe, and it's a busy place with lots of people!
Long, Long Ago in Malawi!
People have lived in Malawi for a very, very long time, even before castles were built in other parts of the world! Long ago, different groups of people came and formed kingdoms, like the Maravi kingdom. Later, people from Britain came and made it a British protectorate. Then, Malawi became its own country in 1964! It was a big day for everyone.
Why Malawi is Super Special!
Malawi is known as the 'Warm Heart of Africa' because the people are so friendly and welcoming! It's also famous for its beautiful Lake Malawi, which is like a giant, sparkling blue swimming pool. This lake is home to tons of colorful fish, more than almost any other lake on Earth! Many people in Malawi work hard on farms, growing yummy food like corn and tobacco.
Malawi's Amazing Neighbors and Friends!
Malawi is surrounded by three other countries: Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north, and Mozambique all around the east and south. These countries are like Malawi's neighbors. Malawi also works with many other countries around the world by being part of groups like the United Nations, which tries to make the world a peaceful place.
