The Boy Who Sailed Across the Sea!

Imagine being a kid and moving super far away! José de San Martín was born in a town called Yapeyú, but when he was only seven, he moved all the way to Spain. That's like moving from your house to a different continent! He grew up there and became a soldier, learning all about fighting and leading.

A Super Plan to Free a Continent!

When José grew up, he heard that people in his homeland, South America, wanted to be free from Spain. He sailed back and had a HUGE idea! Instead of fighting the Spanish head-on, he decided to lead his army over the giant Andes Mountains. It was a super tough journey, like climbing the tallest playground slide you can imagine, but they did it!

Freedom Fighter for Three Countries!

After crossing the mountains, José and his brave soldiers helped free Chile! Then, they sailed to Peru and helped make it free too. He was so important that people called him 'the Liberator'! He was like a superhero for Argentina, Chile, and Peru, helping them become their own countries.

A Hero Remembered Forever!

Even though José de San Martín eventually moved away and lived a quieter life, people never forgot what he did. He is still a national hero in Argentina, Chile, and Peru. They even have special medals and honors named after him to show how much they appreciate his bravery and leadership.
