Interstate 40: The Super Road!

Interstate 40 is like a super-duper long ribbon made of pavement that stretches all the way across the United States! It starts way out in California, in a sandy place called the Mojave Desert. Then, it zooms through states like Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and finally ends in North Carolina, near the big, blue ocean.

It's so long, it would take you many, many days to drive from one end to the other!

As you travel on Interstate 40, you'll see all sorts of cool things. First, it goes through deserts where it's super hot and dry. Then, it climbs up near mountains, like the Rocky Mountains, which are HUGE!

After that, it rolls through wide-open grassy lands called the Great Plains, and then it goes over the Appalachian Mountains, which are covered in green trees. It's like driving through a giant nature park!

Interstate 40 wasn't always here. It was planned and built a long, long time ago, even before you were born! It was made to help people travel and move things around the country faster. A big part of Interstate 40 used to be a famous old road called U.S. Route 66. People loved driving on that road for vacations and adventures!

This giant road is super important because it helps connect cities and towns all across the country. Trucks use it to bring food and toys to stores. Families use it to visit grandparents or go on vacation. It's like a busy highway for everything and everyone! Without Interstate 40, it would be much harder to get things from one side of the country to the other.
