Meet the Giant Blue Sea!

The Atlantic Ocean is HUGE! It's the second-biggest ocean on Earth, covering about 17% of our planet's surface. Imagine a giant blue blanket stretching across the world. It's so big that it separates big land areas called the 'New World' (like North and South America) from the 'Old World' (like Europe and Africa). It's like a giant watery highway connecting different parts of our planet.

Boats, Battles, and Brave Explorers!

Long ago, brave explorers sailed across the Atlantic in wooden ships to discover new lands. Christopher Columbus was one of the most famous explorers to cross it. For many years, people used the Atlantic to travel and trade between continents. Sometimes, there were even big naval battles in its waters! Today, it's still super important for ships carrying goods all around the world.

Warm Waves and Chilly Currents!

The Atlantic Ocean has different temperatures. Near the middle of the Earth, called the Equator, the water is warm all year round, perfect for swimming! But if you go further north or south, the water can get much colder, especially in winter. This is because the parts of the land near these areas have cold winters too. So, the ocean's temperature depends on where you are!

Home to Amazing Creatures!

Even though we can't see them all, the Atlantic Ocean is home to so many incredible animals! From tiny fish to giant whales, these creatures swim and play in the salty water. They eat, sleep, and grow in this vast underwater world. The ocean provides everything they need to survive, making it a busy and lively place for all sorts of marine life.
