Who Are the Free Syrian Army?

The Free Syrian Army, or FSA, was like a big team of people who used to be part of Syria's regular army. But they didn't agree with how the country was being run. So, they decided to leave and form their own group.

Their main job was to help keep people safe when things got dangerous. They wanted to make sure everyone in Syria could live without fear. It was like a group of playground monitors deciding to protect the kids from bullies!

A Brave New Beginning!

When the FSA first started, it was like a brand new club with clear rules. The leaders announced that their most important job was to protect people who were protesting peacefully. They saw that the government's police were hurting people, and they wanted to stop that.

They hoped that by leaving the old army, they could help Syria become a place where everyone had a voice and was treated fairly. It was a big step to go from being part of the army to protecting the people!

Fighting Smart, Not Just Hard!

Since the regular Syrian army was very big and had lots of weapons, the FSA had to be clever. They used 'guerrilla tactics,' which means they were like sneaky ninjas! They would pop up, do their mission, and then disappear.

They fought in the countryside and in cities, trying to make the government's soldiers tired and confused. Their plan wasn't to take over big areas, but to make the government spread its forces too thin. It was like playing a game of tag where you try to outsmart the bigger kids!

Changing Times and New Friends

Over time, things changed for the FSA. It became harder to keep everyone organized, and they didn't always have enough supplies. Other groups also started fighting, and some became more powerful.

Eventually, many FSA groups started working closely with Turkey, a country nearby. Turkey helped them with supplies and support. This led to new groups forming, like the Syrian National Army.

Even though the FSA changed, its original idea of protecting people and wanting a better Syria lived on in these new groups.
