Who Are the Syrian National Army?

The Syrian National Army, or SNA, is like a team of soldiers who came together in Syria. They started forming in 2017, and many of them used to be part of another group called the Free Syrian Army. Think of it like different clubs at school deciding to join forces to work on a big project. Turkey, a country nearby, helped them by giving them supplies and training to get started.

Where Did They Come From?

The SNA grew out of the Free Syrian Army, which began in 2011 when some soldiers decided to leave their old jobs. At first, the Free Syrian Army was the main group trying to make changes. But over time, it became harder for them to work together. So, Turkey helped bring many of these fighters back together to form the SNA, hoping they could be a stronger team.

What Did They Want to Do?

The main goal of the SNA was to create safe places in northern Syria where people could live without fear. They also wanted to work with other groups and fight against those who were causing trouble. They even moved into new areas to help protect more people. It was like wanting to build a giant, safe playground for everyone.

A Team That Grew and Changed

The SNA worked closely with Turkey. Sometimes, people called them an 'auxiliary army' for Turkey, which means they worked together a lot. They were made up of people who were Syrian, like Arabs and Syrian Turkmen. Recently, in 2024, they were part of big changes that led to new leadership in Syria. Now, many of them are joining a new Syrian Army.
