Where the Wind Blows Wild!

Far, far away in the North Atlantic Ocean, there are 18 islands called the Faroe Islands. They are like a little cluster of green gems floating between Iceland and Norway. It's a place where the land is bumpy with hills and cliffs, and the sea is always nearby.

The weather can be a bit wild, with lots of wind and rain, but it also means the islands stay green and beautiful all year round. It's a bit like a giant playground made of rock and grass!

Long, Long Ago...

People first sailed to these islands a super long time ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born! They were brave sailors who came from places like Norway. They built homes and started families, and over many years, these islands became their special home.

They even have their own unique language that sounds a bit like an old song. It's amazing to think how these islands have been lived on for so many centuries.

Sheep, Puffins, and Fun!

Guess what? There are more sheep than people in the Faroe Islands! These fluffy friends love to munch on the green grass.

You can also find cute puffins with colorful beaks waddling around. The people here are very friendly and have special traditions. They love to sing and tell stories.

The capital city, Tórshavn, is small and cozy, and it gets very little sunshine, so they have to make the most of every sunny moment!

Working and Playing Together

Most people in the Faroe Islands work with the sea. Fishing is super important, like catching yummy fish to eat and share. They also have a special agreement with other countries to trade things.

Even though they are part of Denmark, they get to make many of their own decisions. They even have their own sports teams that play against other countries. It's a place where everyone works together to keep their islands special.
