Where Do These Giants Stand?

These incredible pyramids are found in Egypt, a country far, far away with lots of sand and sunshine. They are mostly built on the west side of the big Nile River, which is like a super long watery highway. The most famous ones are near a city called Cairo, which is a very busy place. Think of them as giant stone toys left behind by ancient people!

Who Built These Big Buildings?

Long, long ago, when your grandparents were not even born, and their grandparents weren't born either, ancient Egyptians built these pyramids. They were built for their kings, called pharaohs, and their queens. The pyramids were like special houses for the pharaohs after they passed away, so their spirits could travel to the next world.

It took many, many people and lots of hard work to build them!

Super Tall and Super Old!

The pyramids are super tall! The biggest one, called the Pyramid of Khufu, is so tall it was once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It's still standing today! These pyramids are older than your great-great-great-great-grandparents, and even older than dinosaurs were around. They are like ancient time capsules made of stone, showing us how people lived a very long time ago.

What's Inside a Pyramid?

Most pyramids were built as tombs, which means they were special resting places for pharaohs. Inside, they might have had rooms and hallways. Sometimes, treasures and important things were put inside with the pharaoh. It was believed these things would help them in the afterlife. Imagine a giant stone box filled with history and secrets!
