Where Was East Pakistan?

East Pakistan was like a special part of a big country called Pakistan. It was on one side, and the other part, West Pakistan, was super far away! East Pakistan had neighbors like India and Burma. Its front door faced the big, blue Bay of Bengal, which is like a giant bathtub of water. This land is now the country of Bangladesh, which means 'country of Bengal'.

What Was Life Like?

People in East Pakistan were called 'Pakistani Bengalis'. They had their own special ways of doing things, like celebrating holidays and telling stories. They spoke a language called Bengali. Even though it was part of Pakistan, it was very different from the other side. It was a place with lots of rivers and green fields, perfect for growing rice!

Building Big Things!

Sometimes, people in charge decided to build important things. In East Pakistan, they built a giant dam called the Kaptai Dam. It was like a huge wall to control a river. They also planned to build a special building for the country's leaders to meet in, in a city called Dacca. It was going to be a very important place!

A Big Change!

For a long time, East Pakistan was part of Pakistan. But the people there wanted to be their own country. After some big events, in 1971, East Pakistan became a brand new country called Bangladesh! It was like a big birthday celebration for a new nation, where everyone could be themselves.
