Key Facts
A New Country is Born!
Imagine a big country called Pakistan, but it was split into two parts, far away from each other! The people in the eastern part, who are now Bangladesh, felt like they weren't being treated fairly. They wanted their own voice and their own country. This is the story of how they bravely fought for their freedom in 1971. It was a time of big changes and a fight for what was right.
Why They Wanted Their Own Land
For a long time, people in East Pakistan felt like their ideas and language weren't important to the leaders in West Pakistan. They spoke Bengali, a different language, and had different traditions. They wanted to make their own decisions about their lives and their land.
This feeling grew stronger and stronger, like a balloon getting bigger and bigger, until they decided they needed to become their own country.
The Big Fight for Freedom
In 1971, the people of East Pakistan decided it was time to fight for their freedom. They called themselves Mukti Bahini, which means 'Freedom Fighters'. They were helped by their neighbors, India. It was a very difficult time, with many brave people fighting for their homeland. This war lasted for about nine months and was a very important moment in history.
A Country Called Bangladesh!
After a lot of struggle and bravery, the people in East Pakistan won their freedom! On December 16, 1971, a new country was officially created: Bangladesh. It means 'Country of Bengal'. This war showed the world how important it is for people to have their own country where they can be heard and respected. It's a story of courage and hope.
