Key Facts
Meet the Giant Half!
West Pakistan was like a giant puzzle piece that made up one side of a country called Pakistan. It existed a long, long time ago, from 1955 to 1970. This big piece included lands that are now different countries today. It had neighbors like Afghanistan, India, and Iran, and even a watery border in the sea. It was a huge part of Pakistan, but it wasn't the only part!
A Country Cut in Two!
When Pakistan first became its own country, it was like a sandwich with the filling (India) in the middle, separating the bread. West Pakistan was one slice of bread, and East Pakistan was the other, far, far away. To make things simpler, leaders decided to call the western part 'West Pakistan' and the eastern part 'East Pakistan'.
It was a way to try and make the country feel more like one piece.
Why It Was a Big Deal
West Pakistan was super important because it had more power, even though the other part, East Pakistan, had more people! It was like having a smaller group of kids making all the rules for a bigger group. This made some people unhappy. So, West Pakistan was a special name for a very important part of Pakistan's story a long time ago.
The Big Change!
After many years, leaders decided that having just two big pieces wasn't working anymore. So, they made a big change! In 1970, West Pakistan stopped being called that. The land was split into smaller, more manageable parts, like breaking a big cookie into smaller bites. This helped make the country's map look different and changed how things were run.
