Cuenca is a super special city in Ecuador, a country far away in South America. It's like a cozy blanket tucked high up in the Andes Mountains. Think of it as being on top of a really, really tall playground!
Four sparkly rivers, like ribbons, flow right through the middle of the city, making it extra beautiful. The air is usually just right, not too hot and not too cold, perfect for playing outside.
A City Built on Old Stories!
Long, long ago, even before your great-great-great-grandparents were born, there were people living where Cuenca is now. First, there were the Cañari people, and then the mighty Inca people built a big town there called Tomebamba. Later, people from far away came and built a new city right on top of the old ruins!
It was officially started a very long time ago, on April 12, 1557. It's like building a new LEGO castle on top of an old one!

People call Cuenca the 'Athens of Ecuador' because it's full of smart people and amazing art! Many talented writers, scientists, and artists were born here. The city loves learning and has lots of schools.
It’s also a place where people from different backgrounds live together, making it a vibrant and interesting city. They even have a special part of the city, the historic center, that the whole world thinks is so important it's protected by UNESCO!

Others work in factories, making cool stuff. Recently, lots of people from other countries have started visiting Cuenca because it's so beautiful and interesting. It's becoming a very popular place for tourists to explore and discover its magic.
