Cherokee Trail

The Cherokee Trail was like a super highway for wagons way back in the olden days, from about 1849 to the early 1890s. This path became the Cherokee Trail. Other people saw this trail and used it too. It was like a natural road that grew as more and more wagons traveled on it, going west.

Lots of different people used the Cherokee Trail! It was first made by a wagon train in 1849, and many of those travelers were Cherokee people. That's how it got its name! Later, in 1850, even more wagons used a part of the trail in Wyoming.
