Key Facts
Where is Wyoming?
Wyoming is a big state way out west in the United States. It's like a giant puzzle piece tucked between other states. To the north is Montana, and to the east are South Dakota and Nebraska. Idaho is on the west, Utah is to the southwest, and Colorado is down south. It doesn't touch any oceans, so it's called landlocked. Think of it as being in the middle of the country, but on the western side!
Mountains, Prairies, and Wild Weather!
Wyoming has two main looks. The western part has tall mountains, like giant sleeping giants, and wide grassy fields called rangelands. The eastern part is flatter and higher up, called the High Plains.
The weather can be a bit wild too! It's often dry and windy, and the temperatures can change a lot, from super cold in winter to quite warm in summer. It's a place where nature really shows off its power.
A Land of Firsts!
Wyoming has a super cool history, especially for women! Back in 1869, even before it was a state, Wyoming was the very first place in the whole country to let women vote. Wow! Later, it was also the first to let women be elected to jobs in government. It's called 'The Equality State' because of this. The capital city is Cheyenne, which is also the biggest city there.
What Do People Do There?
Wyoming is famous for its ranches and cowboys! Many people raise animals like cows and sheep. They also dig up important things from the ground, like coal and gas, which help power our homes. Lots of people also visit Wyoming to see its amazing national parks, like Yellowstone, which has geysers that shoot water high into the air! It's a place for adventure and nature.
