Meet the Giant Mountain Hug!

The Carpathian Mountains are like a super long, curved arm stretching across Europe. They are so big, they are the third-longest mountain range in Europe, even longer than a line of 15,000 school buses! These mountains are home to tall peaks, some reaching higher than 200 giraffes stacked on top of each other.

They wind through countries like Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Romania, creating a beautiful, wild landscape.

Home to Wild Wonders!

Guess what? The Carpathians are a super important home for many amazing animals! They have the biggest groups of brown bears, wolves, and lynxes in all of Europe. It's like a giant wildlife park! You can also find over one-third of all the different kinds of plants that grow in Europe here. It’s a magical place where nature really thrives, with lots of green forests and special plants.

Secrets of the Earth!

Deep inside the Carpathian Mountains, there are special waters that bubble up from the ground! These are called thermal and mineral waters. Romania, a country where these mountains are found, has a third of all these special waters in Europe. It's like having a giant, natural spa hidden beneath the mountains. These waters are good for you and make the land around them very special.

Ancient Forests and Tall Peaks

Some parts of the Carpathian Mountains have forests that have never been touched by people – they are called virgin forests! Romania has the second-largest area of these ancient forests in Europe. The highest mountains in the Carpathians are in a place called the Tatra Mountains, reaching over 2,600 meters (8,500 feet) high. That's taller than many skyscrapers put together!
