Meet the Giants!

The Scandinavian Mountains are like a super long, bumpy backbone for the land of Scandinavia. They stretch for thousands of miles, all the way from Norway and Sweden up towards the very top of the world! On one side, they tumble down super fast into the sea, making amazing, deep watery valleys called fjords.

On the other side, they gently slope into Finland. It’s a huge, wild place with lots of snow and ice!

Super Tall Peaks!

Some of these mountains are super, super tall! The highest one, Galdhøpiggen, is in Norway and is as tall as about 70 giraffes stacked on top of each other! That's really high! Even though they look old, these mountains are actually quite young, which is why they are so steep and rocky. Imagine a playground slide that’s super steep – that’s what some of these mountains are like!

Home to Snowy Wonders

These mountains are home to special forests with birch trees and grassy fields. In the winter, they get covered in a thick blanket of snow, making them perfect for winter sports. Think of the North Cape, the very northernmost tip, where the mountains are more like big hills, but still amazing to see. It's a wild and beautiful place where nature is in charge!

A Snowy Border

The Scandinavian Mountains also act like a giant, snowy fence between Norway and Sweden. They are so big that they reach way up to the Arctic Circle, where the sun barely sets in the summer! These mountains are a natural wonder, shaping the land and creating incredible views for everyone who visits or lives nearby.
