British Pakistanis

Imagine a big family living in the United Kingdom, but some of them have ancestors from a country called Pakistan. That's who British Pakistanis are! They are people who were born in the UK and have family from Pakistan, or they were born in Pakistan and moved to the UK.

The UK has the biggest group of people from Pakistan in all of Europe, with over 1.6 million people! That's more people than can fit in 20,000 school buses!

Long, long ago, when parts of Pakistan were part of British India, some people from that area came to the UK. They were sometimes soldiers! But after World War II, when Pakistan became its own country, more people started coming to the UK.

They came because Pakistan was part of a group called the Commonwealth, which made traveling easier. These new arrivals helped build things like factories and hospitals!

British Pakistanis have brought so many wonderful things to the UK! They've added new foods, music, and traditions that make British culture super interesting. They work in all sorts of jobs, from helping in hospitals to creating amazing businesses.

Did you know that most British Pakistanis are Muslim? Also, many British Pakistanis now own their own homes, which is fantastic! They live all over the UK, but the most live in England.
