Bert Trautmann: The Goalkeeper Who Played with a Broken Neck!

Bert Trautmann was a super-duper goalkeeper from Germany who loved playing football! He was born a long, long time ago, in 1923. He was so good at stopping the ball that he became famous for playing for a team called Manchester City. He was like a wall in front of the goal, and everyone cheered when he made amazing saves!

Bert's life was like a movie! During a big war, he was a brave soldier who jumped out of airplanes! After the war, he came to England and started playing football for a small team. People were a little surprised because he was from Germany, but his amazing skills quickly won them over. He proved that friendship and fun can be more important than where you come from.

The most incredible thing Bert ever did happened in a big game called the FA Cup final. He dived to stop a ball and hurt his neck really badly! It was so bad, his neck was crooked! But Bert didn't stop playing. He kept making saves to help his team win. Can you imagine playing with a broken neck? It's like running a race with a sprained ankle!
