Athens in the 5th century BC

Athens in the 5th century BC was like a superhero city! It was a Greek city-state that became incredibly famous. Think of it as the most popular kid on the playground, but for an entire country. Because Athens had so much money and power, they became a magnet for brilliant minds. Famous thinkers, like the philosopher Socrates, and amazing storytellers who wrote plays, like Sophocles, lived there. They built stunning buildings on a hill called the Acropolis.

These buildings were so grand, they were taller than a giraffe and made of beautiful marble. It was a place where art, ideas, and architecture all shone brightly.

Even though this was thousands of years ago, the ideas and art from 5th century BC Athens are still super important today!
