Who Was This Amazing Man?
Imagine a person who loved books and learning so much, he became one of the first Black Americans to earn a special college degree called a PhD! That was W. E.
B. Du Bois. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1868, when things were very different for Black people in America.
He grew up to be a writer, a teacher, and a brave voice for justice. He wanted everyone to be treated fairly, no matter their skin color.

Du Bois had a super important idea: he believed that Black people should have all the same chances as everyone else, right away! He didn't think they should have to wait. He wrote powerful books and articles that explained why this was so important.

Starting a Powerful Club!
One of the coolest things W. E. B. Du Bois did was help start a special group called the NAACP. Think of it like a superhero team for civil rights! This group worked hard to stop unfair laws and make sure Black people could vote and live without fear. They organized protests and spoke out against racism.
